Harvest Gardens Water Access

The following steps outline how to turn on our mainline water system. Once the mainline has been turned on it can be accessed at five different points by either hose or sprinkler. The instructions explain how to use the hose spigots, but the process is the same for the sprinklers (you'll just have to experiment with the sprinklers to optimize their performance. The following map will hopefully help you locate what you're looking for. (A heads up on our water cover; it has recently been replaced. So if there is no pink X painted anymore than open the cover closest to our garden of the two that are grouped together. As shown in the diagram below.)

Step #1
Go to our amazing storage box and find the tools shown below.

Strep #2
Find the green mainline water box cover with the pink X painted on it, shown below. There are also blue flags marking it, but I don't think they'll last much longer. You will have to climb the hill and head towards the lake to find it.

Step #3
Next take the bolt driver tool and twist counter clockwise to unlock the mainline water box cover.

Step #4
Gently pry open the mainline water cover. If it doesn't come easily it is probably still locked and you should retry Step #3.

Step #5
Turn the red and white handle counter clockwise. You will hear a hissing and a small amount of water will spray out from a tiny nozzle. These are all good signs, it means the water is flowing and you are ready watering.

Step #6
Put the green water box cover back on and lock it with the nut driver. We don't want any curious kids or critters falling in while we water.

Step #7
Grab your watering spigot from the storage box and find a yellow quick coupler in the ground. Both are pictured below. Make sure the spigot is closed (turn clockwise) or you'll get a wet and wild surprise.

Step #8
Match up the spigot and quick coupler, there is a small notch in the pipe that matches the spigot. Insert and turn clockwise, you will hear another small hissing that tells you the water is ready. To test it turn on your tap. If it works you are ready for the hose. Just connect the hose and any other attachments you like and water away. Don't forget the chair and book.

Step #9
When finished make sure to turn off the water at the main water line and lock it. Then return all the hoses, tools, and attachments to the storage box and try to keep it neat and tidy so the next person can find what they are looking for. Lock it up and see you next time.
